tales of a student teacher.

I'm a senior at the University of Hartford studying elementary education, currently doing my student teaching in a fifth grade classroom in Hartford. I'm starting to think about having my own classroom, and want to get as much inspiration from as many sources as possible.

'A great teacher can offer an escape from poverty to the child who dreams beyond his circumstance. Every person...can point to a teacher who changed the trajectory of their lives.' -Barack Obama
  • Valentine’s Day! My students were so precious, and they brought me chocolate (:
  • My lesson on comparing & contrasting texts went REALLY well. Yay!
  • A PACK of Hartford principals came wandering in during the lesson…and I didn’t suck!
  • The principal of my school actually complimented me & said he heard “good things” and that I was “intelligent”!
  • He talked about hiring a lot of teachers/interns for next year and said “you’re not allowed to leave us”!
  • I’M ONLY THREE WEEKS INTO MY PLACEMENT.

Literally am so happy with my life right now. Today was one of the days where I … actually felt like a teacher, not a student teacher or copy girl. I am so, so so so so happy.

:D
